• Tips for Writing Great Thank You Notes

The kids are back in school after winter vacation. We have had a lot of fun, but I am excited to get back to my desk and get organized. The first item on the to do list is to write thank you notes.

The best tip I can give for writing a heartfelt note is simple: don’t procrastinate. The longer you wait, the harder it becomes to recapture the excitement and gratitude you felt when you first received your gift.

It’s perfectly fine to keep your note brief. The goal is to let the giver know you received their gift and your appreciation for their thoughtfulness.

    Here’s an example:

What a cozy hat! I can’t wait to wear it this winter - it matches my navy coat perfectly. Thank you so much for thinking of me on my birthday. Your kindness means so much.

Having pretty stationary or note cards ready can make writing thank you notes feel less like a chore and more like a joyful task. Beautiful cards that are easy to grab can inspire you to write. I am really excited about the new Baxter & Jackson set!

The same goes for stamps. Keep a book of them on your desk, and when the Post Office releases a design you love, stock up! (I am still enjoying the Winter Berries from 2020!)

Here are some of my favorite stationery options:

Writing thank you notes is a simple way to share your gratitude and brighten someone else’s day. The more prepared you are, the easier—and more enjoyable—it becomes.
